This guide is for the build of a 5 step staircase for use on stage. It is designed to be sturdy, but lighter weight than a stair framed for use in general construction. The steps are standard 8” rise, 9” tread and one 5 step section will get your actors to a 4’ tall platform, assuming that the top step onto the platform is the 6th step. The overall dimensions are 4’ wide x 45”high x 40” deep. The stairs can be finished and painted with whatever material you choose.
